KangarooFriday, 8th May 2020 ◆ Baby's delight consumes energy (4)
Kangaroo is my framework for creating multiplayer turn-based games. It's something I started work on a while ago, but the pandemic induced lockdown has driven a lot of progress on it recently.
It takes care of the lobby system, authentication, events and various other things in order to make creating a multiplayer game as easy as possible. One of the most important changes between Kangaroo and my other attempts at making multiplayer games is that players are able to reconnect if they drop out mid-game.
If it's of any interest, the documentation for the API is publically available, if a little messy. Writing an almost comprehensive documentation really helped me pick up the reigns on this project after a few years had passed, so I'm very grateful that I did so!
There are a couple of incomplete games up there now. The first "real" game I intend to host there is Wodka, a 4-player trick taking game inspired by Tichu.
It is currently playable in its base form, but I need to implement all of the special cards. It should be finished soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
